How long does it take to build a log home? – The answer depends on a number of influences not limited to the design of your home, weather, the site, and the experience of the construction workers.

Estimating labor – We generally estimate ½ to 1 man-hour per square foot of floor space for a purlin style home. The time estimate is less 1/4 to 3/4 of an hour- for truss-type finished log homes.

The construction of your log home begins in one of our three mill yards, where logs of dead standing Lodgepole Pine, Spruce, Douglas Fir or Western Red Cedar are cut to size. Note: Our laminated logs go through a different process.

It is at this point a good General Contractor will shine. Your General Contractor is responsible for erecting the logs that form the walls to your home from subfloor (foundation) to roof line. Log construction is very fast in comparison to traditional home building. This means that if you have a reputable roofing company already lined up, your house can go from foundation to “dried in” within weeks or months.

Final Log Home Construction – Once your log package is erected, it is ready for the final trimmings. Windows, doors, stairs, railings need to be installed, as well as plumbing and electrical. These components will be supplied by other vendors in most cases.
